Matsuda Sangyo is ready to collect and recycle lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries are finding their way into a wide range of applications, including the widespread use of hybrid and electric vehicles (xEV), energy storage systems (ESS) for renewable energy power leveling, and portable energy sources for emergency use.
However, while lithium-ion batteries are composed of valuable metals such as nickel, cobalt, lithium, copper, and aluminum, they also contain substances that make recycling difficult, such as low flash point liquid and fluorine and phosphorus in the electrolyte.
Matsuda Sangyo has a highly efficient, low-carbon, and low environmental impact recycling process in Japan in order to recover valuable resources, and proposes optimal recycling methods as possible as what the customer needs.
Lithium ion batteries come in a wide variety of types, and the regions where they are wasted, the packaging, the condition, and the recycle needs of our customers vary widely.
In addition to processing batteries at our own plants, we also provide appropriate recycling options by utilizing our partners that we have built over many years in the environmental business in Japan, and our customers choose us because of our high level of responsiveness.
We holds waste transportation licenses in all prefectures in Japan and 4 storage and dismantling facilities including hazardous materials warehouse are located throughout Japan.
We can dismantle large battery packs for vehicles and energy storage systems and recycle materials such as pack case and basber, harness, PCB etc.
We provide recycling solution services based on the premise of safety and security with not only our own plants but also those of our partners they can processing and transporting batteries and in Japan.
We have the goal of “battery-to-battery” resource recycling with Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, one of our main cooperating processing companies. Utilizing the cement manufacturing infrastructure, we have realized 100% recycling of LiBs in a safe and environmentally friendly method and highly efficient recovery of blackmass that is metal concentrates such as nickel and cobalt, lithium, which have high resource risks in Japan.
We accept and recycle lithium-ion secondary batteries of various applications, sizes, and cathode types, as shown in the table below. In addition to LIBs, we are also capable of recycling nickel-metal hydride batteries.
Even for the post consumer wastes like the above-listed items, recyclers cannot handle them if they do not have licenses.
We propose consulting for manufacturers taking the licenses called “Wide-Area Certification System (Koiki nintei)”※ of the Ministry of the Environment in Japan.
※ Wide-Area Certification System: The Ministry of the Environment in Japan has established it to facilitate the efficient collection and recycling of post consumer residues across multiple regions. This system allows certified companies to collect, transport, and recycle waste materials beyond the boundaries of local municipalities, promoting a more streamlined and environmentally friendly waste management process.
We welcome inquiries about our businesses.
